Brad Struss, Principal

@BradStr on Twitter Bigger Boat Consulting founder Brad Struss has a passion for empowering organizations to break down data silos and help them take control of their data. He brings more than two decades of technology leadership experience from companies such as Microsoft, Judy’s Book, and NPower Northwest. He has been recognized twice as a Salesforce MVP. He’s a Salesforce Certified Developer and a certified ScrumMaster.

He stays active in the community as a Partner in Social Venture Partners Seattle and was a founding board member of Summer Search Seattle. He spent 4 years as the co-leader of the Seattle Salesforce Nonprofit User Group. Brad has been a speaker on a variety of nonprofit data management topics at Do Good Data, UW DRIVE, the Social Venture Partners International Conference, and the UW Fundraising Management Program. Brad loves spending time with his family, being outdoors, and sometimes climbing mountains*.

* Climbs have included, but are not limited to: Mt Long, Mt Baker, Mt Rainer, Kite Hill in Gasworks Park, and a failed attempt on Aconcagua.

Beth Breisnes, Consultant

Beth has been working with nonprofits and social enterprises on Salesforce since 2009. She loves working with innovative nonprofit organizations and helping them deliver on their missions more effectively through technology. Active in the Salesforce community, she co-leads the Vancouver (BC) Nonprofit User Group, helped author the Advanced Formulas Trailhead module, and was named a Salesforce MVP in 2014. Beth holds nine Salesforce certifications including Platform Developer I, App Builder, Advanced Administrator, Sales Cloud Consultant, Sharing and Visibility Designer, Data Architecture and Management Designer, and Development Lifecycle and Deployment Designer. Her passion for sustainability led her to complete an MBA in Sustainable Business in 2010.

When not hanging out on the Power of Us HUB, she can be found at meetups of her local babywearing group, walking the Vancouver seawall with her two young kids, scouring Pinterest for new recipes, watching far too many Kickstarter pitch videos, and finding new co-ops* to join.

* Co-op memberships include, but are not limited to: housing, car-sharing, fishery, orchard, produce, bulk dry goods, and a tool library.

 

Dantae Davies, Consultant

Dantae has been delivering technology solutions since 1996 when he talked his way into the IT department of a consumer goods manufacturer. He worked as a software developer for a number of years before moving to the database world where he designed and implemented high performance databases for a wide variety of clients in the finance, banking, media and retail industries. His database designs have powered everything from autonomous stock trading systems to the online sale of an original copy of the Declaration of Independence.

Dantae had his first encounter with Salesforce while doing community organizing work 2014. As luck would have it, shortly afterwards took a position at an education nonprofit where he was tasked with leading an agency-wide Salesforce implementation. He is a Salesforce Certified Administrator and App Builder.

Outside of the office he can often be found crafting cocktails* for friends and family.

* Favorite cocktails to make include margaritas, gin martinis, negronis, manhattans and French 75s.

Karen Fitton, Consultant

Karen has been in the technology field for over 20 years. She started her career in a large corporation eventually saw the light and went to work with non-profits. Karen has been in the nonprofit realm for over 10 years. She stepped out of technology for 6 years and joined the league of fundraisers. She returned to technology when Friends of the Orphans needed someone to lead a database conversion project. The timing was right and Karen stepped into that role. Working with the consultants, Karen led the effort to convert their organization to Salesforce.com. She then led user adoption and enhancements for that system for almost four years. She is a Salesforce.com Certified Advanced Administrator and was a panelist at Salesforce’s Dreamforce conference, speaking about user adoption. Karen was named a Salesforce MVP in 2015.

Karen is thrilled to work in the IT and non-profit worlds. She is loves it when technology allows people to focus more on the work of the non-profit and less on the administration. Karen is excited about the opportunity to help other organizations with their technology solutions.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys traveling*, working in the garden, riding bike, and being amazed watching her children grow.

Jenifer Lambert, Consultant

Jenifer has been leveraging technology and building data driven solutions to help people do great things for more than 20 years. Her experience spans industries such as healthcare, finance, government, and higher education.  Her titles have included consultant, analyst, developer, architect, and director. Her solution experience ranges from finance systems to CRMs to custom applications to business intelligence. Most recently, she was a technology leader in higher education responsible for application development, support, and everything database where she balanced enterprise requirements with the mission oriented needs of a high touch nonprofit organization. Jenifer is a Salesforce-certified Platform Developer I.

Jenifer is passionate about helping others explore and understand the possibilities of technology.  She believes in having fun while doing meaningful work and making the complex simple so people can focus on their primary mission. Like others on the Bigger Boat Consulting team, Jenifer is thrilled to use her technical powers for good.

As an outdoor enthusiast* and animal lover, Jenifer can typically be found enjoying the beautiful outdoors with friends and family. However, a good book, cup of good coffee, and a cuddly cat or dog just might lure her inside on a cold rainy day.

* Outdoor activities include but are not limited to hiking, cycling, mountain biking, skiing, and just resting in the grass with her furry family.

 

David Lewis-Jimmerson, ScrumMaster/Agile Coach

David started his nonprofit journey back in 2005 assisting NW Institute for Restorative Justice. His teeth officially cut, he was eager to enter the world of advocacy seeking positions with organizations focused on issues ranging from autism to Puget Sound ecology to LBGTQ rights. In 2012, David traded his picket signs for post-it notes hoping to extend his reach to more people using his skills as a project manager. His passion for sensitive and disenfranchised populations has driven him on a never ending quest to serve his community.

A UW alum, David now uses his behavioral psychology background to bolster his skills as  ScrumMaster/Agile Coach on the Bigger Boat team. He’s a believer in bringing agility to projects of all types. He has applied agile approaches far beyond software – to work as diverse as selling tea to alternative child therapy.

When he’s not busy slashing impediments at Bigger Boat, David enjoys deconstructing ancient political theories with friends or hanging out with his parrot, JP.  Passions include paddleboarding, anything Tacoman* and mental health advocacy.

*Some favorite Tacoman things include drinks at En Rama, running in Wright Park, and great conversation at Mad Hat Tea Co.

 

Heidi Norgaard, Consultant

heidiface3Heidi has been working in the nonprofit community since 2009. She has been building and supporting CRM solutions on the Salesforce platform since 2013. Her experience in arts and health sectors has informed her focus on people-centered solutions that enable users to make data-driven decisions for their organizations.

Heidi spent the past 3 years as the Salesforce administrator at SightLife. In her role she supported and enhanced a system for 150 users in the US and India. Heidi is a Salesforce Certified Administrator, an active participant in local user groups, and a passionate believer in the power of good design and intuitive user experience to help people spend less time clicking and more time doing good.

In her free time, Heidi can be found perfecting recipes and making delicious delights* for her friends and family.

*Delights include: homemade pretzels, old fashioned glazed donuts, pelmeni Russian dumplings, chocolate fudge, and her all-time favorite, the Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich.

 

Kate Witt, Project Manager

Kate Witt, Senior Project ManagerKate has been working in technology since 1999 when she was hired as a Y2K Technician. After spending a year updating the BIOS on every computer in the company, she moved onto her first .com and discovered configuration management. Since then, she has worked as an installation developer, front-end web developer, and most recently as a project manager. Kate has been working with nonprofits since 2002. She is motivated by working with companies who share her belief that work can and should create a better world. Kate is a certified ScrumMaster and facilitates our agile approach with clients.

When not changing the world with her project plans, Kate can be found acting* in the (great) local Seattle theatre scene. She brings her retired racer greyhound to work so if you are near the office, feel free to stop by with treats.
